Leading researcher, Assistant professor, Institute of Technical Physics, Faculty of Materials Science and Applied Chemistry, Riga Technical University


Dr. phys. Pavels Onufrijevs is a leading researcher and assistant professor at the Institute of Technical Physics at Riga Technical University (RTU). In 2009, he received his Doctor of Physics degree in Material Science at RTU. He has been working for more than 15 years in the Research Laboratory of Semiconductor Physics in the areas of laser processing of semiconductors, metals, superconductors, nano-electronics, and optoelectronics. He is an expert in the interaction of powerful laser radiation with semiconductor materials, such as CdTe, CdZnTe, Si, Ge, SiGe, GeSn, GaAs, TiO2, ZnO, InGaN, SnS and SiC. He has more than 70 scientific papers indexed in the SCOPUS database. He has participated in national and international scientific projects, including ERAF, DAAD, FP7, H2020, etc. He has a broad experience in cooperative research with research institutes abroad (Taiwan, Spain, UK, Germany, Japan, Ukraine, Lithuania and Estonia).

He published more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals (Scopus) and contributed to 3 book chapters. He received several awards in 2009, such as the Award of the year of The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia and Latvenergo AS in achievement of energetic for young researchers and the Young Researchers Award for an outstanding paper presented during The International Conference on Global Research and Education – Inter-Academia.
