Georgeta Salvan is apl. Professor at the Institute of Physics of the Chemnitz University of Technology. She studied Physics at the Babes-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca, Romania (1994-1999) and received the PhD degree in experimental physics at the Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany in 2003. After a postdoctoral period at the University of Wales Aberystwyth, UK she became leader of a Junior Research Group in the field of Organic Semiconductors in Chemnitz (2003-2010). Since 2010 Prof. Salvan is a member of the Semiconductor Physics Professorship at the Chemnitz University of Technology.
Her research interests focus on heterostructures including molecular systems, magnetic oxides, or magnetic layer stacks and their optical, magneto-optical, and magnetic properties.
Georgeta Salvan received the Young Scientist Award in the field of Natural Sciences awarded by the Dresdner Gesprächskreis der Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft (2004) and the University Prize for the PhD Thesis (2003). She was vice-speaker of the DFG Research Unit DFG-1154 “Towards Molecular Spintronics” (2010-2017).
She has co-authored three book chapters and more than 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals. She acted as guest editor of a Thematic Issue of the Beilstein Journal of Technology (2017) and of a Special Issue of the physica status solidi b (2019).
