Dr. Dhananjay Kumar is currently an Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NCAT. He is an internationally recognized researcher for his pioneering contributions in the area of thin-film and nanomaterials synthesis and processing. He has published more than 125 papers in peer-reviewed journals with more than a few thousand citations. He has developed a pulsed laser deposition-assisted synthesis method for the self-assembly of low-dimensional nanophase materials. He has been the recipient of several federal and state grants totaling more than $ 5 M during his 20-year career at NCAT. He is presently involved in developing economically, environment-friendly, and efficient photovoltaic and magnetocaloric materials and understanding of fundamental physical phenomena in those materials. He has sponsored research of more than 25 graduate students and four doctoral fellows during his NCAT tenure. He is currently supervising six doctoral students and two undergraduate students.
